Free Audio Books
Audiobooks are recorded
spoken words in a book-like format. Pretty much all popular novels today are read by specialized readers and
recorded into the audiobook format. Then they are uploaded online where interested people can download them and
listen to the audiobooks on their computers or ipods.
Audiobooks are becoming increasingly popular as portable music players
become commonplace. This allows people who do not usually read to listen to books and learn what they would have
missed out on before. There are hundreds of sites offering free and cheap
audibooks online. A simple search for audio books yields over 77 million results!
Some of the most popular audio books right now are in the top 10 list from
Barnes and Noble. The top ten bestselling audio books they had in November 2009 were: The Lost
Symbol by Dan Brown, Going Rogue by Sarah Palin, The Poe Shadow by Matthew Pearl, Ford County by John Grisham, At
Risk (Win Ganaro Series #1) by Patricia Cornwell, The Christmas Train by David Baldacci, An Echo in the Bone
(Outlander Series #7) by Diana Gabaldon, Screwtape Letters by C.S. Lewis, Say You're One of Them by Uwem Akpan, and
The Vineyard by Barbara Delinsky.
Audiobooks can be downloaded from many different websites. Some of the top
audiobook websites are audible.com, audiobooks.com, audiobooks.org, apple.com, librivox.org, barnesandnoble.com,
simplyaudiobooks.com, audiobooks.net, emusic.com, and audiobooksforfree.com. These are often the top 10 websites on
Google related to audiobooks.
There are hundreds of advertisers for audio books online. Many offer free audio
books for newcomers to their websites, but sometimes they try to include a subscription plan you must cancel within
a certain time period in order to not be charged.
